This one was a wild adventure! I’ve only been to a Walmart about 3 times in my life, so I had no idea what to expect. @erin_funfoodie was by my side as we explored the options and by the end I had quite a few bottles that I wanted to try. While I do admit that I am a wine snob - I also believe there is a wine for every occasion... not to mention there are not many places where you can buy 6 bottles of good wine for $100!
Brut Chandon - $18.48 – When in doubt – grab bubbles! This is a traditional, dry sparkling wine that will turn any occasion into a party! Andrew and I also visited the beautiful Chandon winery during our honeymoon so it will always hold a special place in my heart!
2019 Reserve Mer Soleil Chardonnay - $19.98 – from the Santa Lucia Highlands in Monterey County. You’ll get plenty of buttery notes on this one – but it is nicely balanced by the apple and peach flavors along with the refreshing acidity.
2020 Black Girl Magic Riesling - $18.98 – from McBride Sisters Wine. Love the Riesling from this female-owned wine company – this is a super aromatic wine with apricot and jasmine notes as well as tropical flavors on the palate with just the right amount of sweetness!
2020 Louis Jadot Beaujolais-Villages - $12.48 – This is a juicy Gamay that is a steal at this price! Bursting with bright red fruit notes with a hint of earthiness that make this a much more interesting wine than the price suggests.
2019 Sea Sun Pinot Noir - $18.98 –this is an easy drinking California Pinot from Chuck Wagner (yes, the guy behind Caymus!) You’ll get some baked red fruits on this one with lovely oaky notes of vanilla and chocolate – this was my favorite of the bunch!
2020 Maddalena Cabernet Sauvignon - $14.48 – This is my first time trying a San Antonio Winery label and this Cabernet from Paso Robles did not disappoint with surprisingly balanced black fruit notes and a hint of tobacco. Definitely screaming to be paired with a nice steak.
